Standards of Learning: In High School we start the children with the basics of a
well-rounded education in order to develop a well-trained mind. Because each student learns at his
or her own pace, no calendar is included and when the curriculum is completed an evaluation will be
made by the Professors of BiblioTronix, whether a complete calendar school year has past or not. Middle
School children are required, just as in the higher grades to take: English, Math, History, Science,
Foreign Language, and an Elective. These are the years in which rhetoric, or persuasive organization
of facts, will be developed.
English: In English, we continue to develope an appriciation for literature
as well as developing their oral skills, by way of a verity of verbal and non-verbal communication.
Writing will be increased by the students planning, rough drafting, editing and rewriting reports in
a typed format. Emphasis in High School will be in rhetoric, the logical presentation of facts
must now be shown in a persuasive manner.
History: History will include the geographic, economic, governmental, and
cultural concepts within the communities studied and in a historical context. This will include
readings from speeches and persuasive documents that are the foundation of many country's ideals.
Emphasis will be on primary sources and historical studies, to develope a rhetorical basis for
logical organization skills.
Math: Requirements for math explore the concepts of deductive axiomatic methodology and
justification of theorems. This will involve two and three-dimensional reasoning skills to solve mathematical
problems. Math symbols and vocabulary will be continued and students will be actively engaged in
using math as a problem solving skill.
Science: Science continues the concepts of validation of data. Skills such as
questioning and testing those questions will be developed in the process of gathering facts.
Questioning, forming hypotheses, predictions and experimentation will be now charted against,
defining dependent and independent variables, making prediction in the form of graphs, and analyzing
data. This data will then be put into a logical sequence to explain the event to others. The
Scientific Method will be emphasized at this stage.
Foreign Language: The students have now
entered that stage in the Trivium known as Rhetoric; therefore they will now begin their study in
modern languages.
Arts: The Elective requirement for any high school level can
be met by taking any of the following: Art, Classical Ballet, Fencing, or Music.
